It's that time of year again, end of summer & beginning of fall.....and time for mums & asters!! They are always an nice, bright splash of color at the nursery after the summer months!! We have a range of colors in the mums and we have some purple asters....all in 8" pots.

Japanese White Pine

Japanese White Pine (Pinus parviflora 'Glauca') is one of the interesting and fun ornamental conifers we have in stock here at the nursery. A very slow growing tree, Japanese White Pine has somewhat of a "Charlie Brown Christmas Tree" look in youth, but it fills out more each year. A great tree for an accent plant in the landscape. The needles are a nice combination of blue, green & silver (see photo below) and it has a heavy cone-set even as a young tree.

We have them in 3-4' & 4-5' here at KAT.

It's late in July, but some shrubs are just coming into their prime bloom or reflushing with a second round!! Below are just some of the plants in bloom here at KAT. The perennials are looking great as well! Be sure to check out the slide show for a few other photos of some summer bloomin!!

Clethra is just finishing up it's bloom, but is worth a mention due to it's wonderful fragrance. A great shrub that can stand some shade and brighten up the summer garden, Ruby Spice has pink blooms that will fade out to white. We also carry Hummingbird & White Dove Clethra.

Crapemyrtles are Blooming or close to it!!!

Rhapsody in Pink #3 (left); Pink Velour #3 & #15; Ruby, Cherry, & Raspberry Dazzle #3; Siren Red #3; Pocomoke Dwf #3; Natchez #15.

Among the Hydrangeas current in bloom is Pia. Pia is a compact member of the H. macrophylla. Bright pink blooms contrast nicely with the dark green foliage.

Other hydrangeas in bloom are Pinky Winky, Little Lamb, Twist & Shout (Endless Summer line)

Rose Satin Hibiscus has nice, rose pink blooms with red eye. As with the rest of the Satin Series of Altheas, Rose Satin reaches a mature size of 8-12'.

Available in a #3/5 & Tree Form Standards. We also have in stock Blue Satin, Diana, Minerva, Morning Star Althea & Coelestis.

And, last but not least, roses are blooming like crazy!!!

Pink Double Knockout has the same great characteristics as the rest of the Knock Out series. It has a good, dark pink bloom that tends not to fade out.

Pink Double Knock Out is available in #2.

Carefree Celebration is a larger shrub rose from the breeder of the Knock Out series. It has the same disease resistance and has the purplish new growth as the Knock Outs. The coral to orange flowers are a beautiful contrast to the foliage and many other landscape plants.

Carefree Celebration is available currently in a #2 & come fall #5.

AZALEAS

The Evergreen Azaleas are in full bloom here at the nursery, and they are beautiful!!! Here are some quick shots of the blooms on some of them. The entire house is full of a great range of colors from purple to pinks to oranges and the whites are just starting. The Rhodies have also started to bloom and are looking great as well!!

I must say though, the camera doesn't nearly do justice to the intense flower color.....

Weeping Alaskans

Here are a couple of photos of the Weeping Alaskan Falsecypress we just got in. The 6' & 7' are Chamaecyparis noot. 'Green Arrow', a nice, skinny form. The 9' are 'Pendula', still not that wide and both varieties have a beautiful, graceful appearance as you can tell by the 6's swaying with the breeze when these pictures were taken. Enjoy.

Fresh Stock!!

It's starting to seem like spring as we are receiving 5 semi loads of product this week. Nothing out of the ordinary, but it's still great to see. We've got White Pines, Austrians, Spartan Junipers, Canaerti Junipers & Norway Spruce on the evergreen side of things, & some Swamp White Oak & Redbuds as well. Last week brought a truckload out of our fields of Skyline Honeylocust, Green Vase Zelkova, & Redmond Linden--so a restocking of the yard is definitely underway!!

In the meantime, Jean Ann noticed the Witchhazel were blooming last week--always a sure sign the end of winter is approaching. Here are some photos showing the different blooms.

Fax finally.......

Two weeks, three All in One printers later, and four un-installs and re-installs later we are up and running with our new machine!!! Who knew it could be so complicated?! So, we should be receiving faxes just fine till the other shoe drops. Enjoy the beautiful weather as we all know in Feb, this can't last for long!!

So, we were thinking we had solved our fax problem by getting a new all in one printer, fax, etc....come to find out we got a defective model!!!!!!!!! The fax feeder doesn't work. So, Wed. we will be back in business when we get yet another new printer.........hopefully!!!

Okay, we have been having some slight issues in getting the whole website etc. set up. What should be a semi easy process somehow turns into to a challenge of multiple proportions. First, it was getting the domain name transferred to our ownership along with our new emails, which had to be reset up. Now, we have to get our IP address to become static. It just means another fun dealing with the phone company and getting an appt in a day or so to change it over and having our computer guy come back out and set up our whole router again. On top of all that, we've been having issues with our fax machine.....got to love technology!!

But on the plus side, the website should be up, with live availability, by sometime next week!!!
